Food, Workouts, Thoughts – Funny How Things Change

January 5, 2013

It is funny how things change.  The things you think you can’t live without you forget you even missed.  The things you thought you couldn’t do, well, look at you.  You are doing them.  Your way of thinking – “I can’t…”   “I will never…”  ”I wish I could, but…”  Change to:  ”I am going to do this….”  ”What the heck, sure, I will set that goal…”  ”Man, who says I can’t do that….”   That lunch you see?  Simple, fast, and it never crossed my mind to add potato chips or pretzels to that plate.  A few months ago, half the plate would have been some crunchy starchy junk.

I’m not 20 anymore.  Heck, I’m not 30 anymore.  I can see it in my rear-view mirror….barely!!  It is never too late to get up and get it done.   Day by day.  Little by little.  I used to spend a lot of time reading different workouts and diets and celebrating other people’s successes without accepting that I can have my own success.

So my soap box moment today is to encourage you to celebrate your own successes.  Maybe you made a decision to take the stairs at work instead of the elevator.  Simple but powerful.  Small changes like that lead to a new way of thinking.  If you work on the 32nd floor, get off a couple of floors before your floor and walk the rest of the way.

There is a blog that has opened my eyes to non-traditional workouts you can do anywhere when you can’t get to the gym.  Check out these blodyflow workouts that are great for mobility, core strength, balance, and they get you off your duff and moving.

  1. Now that’s a healthy sensible meal. Why can’t they put all this goodness into ice cream ?

  2. Thanks for the mention Noah. That meal looks like something I would put together on a whim. Good for you for making the changes and reflecting on the changes as they are made.

  3. That’s a solid meal you have there!

    Thanks for the mention!!!
