If Only You Had Loved Me

July 6, 2013

Three times we stood

once asked

twice denied.

Your foot beneath the table

pressing

I did not move.

Your words cut the air

liquid serpents

of fire.

I wanted you to love me

you could not

and so I hated you.

But now I feel nothing

not true

a lie.

I say now you were sick

schizophrenic maybe

and I no longer blame.

I wonder how life could have been

different

if only.

If only you had loved me.

  1. I see this from so many angles. Your choice of words were just right to make this so intense. Great work.

  2. I love this. Your words are wonderfully combined.
